Seattle, Wa. – A meeting is underway in Seattle to look at an ultra high speed train linking Vancouver BC, Seattle and Portland. The meeting is hosted by Microsoft.

Hal Gard with ODOT’s Rail and Transit Division is one of the speakers today. He says talks are in the very early stages and it will be decades before it could be a reality. He says the train would be like Japan’s bullet train and would travel at more than 200 mph.

Estimated price tag is $40 billion dollars. He points out  it would cost more than $100 billion dollars to add a lane to I-5 north and south bound and it would reach capacity in just a few years.
