Who Would Kill Two Dogs With an Ax?

Two dogs were found slaughtered in rural Eagle Creek three days after they disappeared.  Japheth Stalcup discovered his black Labrador, Duke, and Buddy, a Labrador-Blue Heeler mix, dead on a steep embankment in a wooded area behind his home on Sweetwater Lane.

They'd been beaten to death with an ax.  Authorities do not believe the dogs were attacked by another animal.

There are no clues on who might have done this terrible act.  The culprit could face charges of aggravated animal abuse.

The Oregon Humane Society and In Defense of Animals is offering a reward of $3,000 for information leading to the culprit.
