Man Identified After Officer-Involved Shooting

A 28-year-old man was shot and killed by police and drove into an apartment building after being shot. Officer responded to shots fired about 12:30 this afternoon near SE Division and 122nd Ave. The report is that the the driver of one car shot at another car that was traveling south on 122nd. Officers learned, through an investigation, that the suspect car was in the area of Coumbia and N. Fessenden. Police saw the vehicle and stopped the vehicle. One person got out and cooperated ... but the driver took off. He has been identified as 28-yearold Bill Wayne Simms. One Portland office fired his weapon at the car. That officer is identified as Officer Justin Clary, a 10-year veteran of the force. Lt. Robert King of Portland Police says the Police Bureau Homicide Detectives were called to the scene. Nobody was in the apartment at the time.
