A hit and run suspect managed to elude police for 14 hours before being taken into custody last night at his North Portland home. 24 year old  Mark Lacy was handcuffed  around 8pm Tuesday night. Sgt. Robert Vopell credits the Portland Police traffic division  who successfully  canvassed the area where they thought Lacey lived. The woman Lacy allegedly ran down in
a Rose Quarter parking lot, Beth Forcia, is recovering at home. Police say Lacy hit the gas after she approached him and asked what he was doing. He demolished a bus shelter and hit a couple of street signs before ditching his S-U-V near the scene. He faces charges of assault, felony hit and run, criminal mischief and DUII.
