Speed Boat Accident Injures Driver

Columbia River
A speed boat driver was ejected when his boat went out of control and flipped several times during a practice run on the Columbia River Thursday afternoon. The boat crash happened in the South Channel of
the Columbia River parallel to 185th on NE Marine Drive. Investigators say the boat malfunctioned relatively early into it's practice run causing
it to flip over several times.
The
occupant safety system ejected the driver via parachute as designed.
Two support boats present at site immediately
recovered the operator. The driver was critically injured.
Lifeflight was placed on standby, but the driver
was ultimately taken by ground ambulance to the Legacy Emanuel Trauma
Center.
