A 51-year-old library aide at South Albany High School has turned herself in and is now facing charges of sex abuse involving three 17-year-old old male students. Heidi Hyre has worked for the school district for the last four years as an educational assistant in the library and the computer lab.
Police say they interviewed three students who sent and received sext messages and pictures via text messaging with the library aide. Hyre is also accused of a sexual encounter in her car with one of the boys.
The district superintendent has confirmed to the Albany Democrat Herald that Hyre is also under investigation in connection with prescription drug sales. She says the district is shocked and appalled that a trusted adult would allegedly be involved in this kind of behavior.
